It is hard not to overemphasize the need for backup. Once you lose your personal and system data, you then can understand the importance of backup, but unfortunately by then, it's too late. Having first hand experience of the pain loss of data can cause, Navdon Technology's philosophy is to strongly urge their customers to implement regular backups. Of course even the most diligent backup freaks will lose data from time to time.

Navdon Technology can backup your critical data to physical media like CD or DVD ROM. We also recommend that you keep a secondary backup by coping the backup disks and keep them in a different, off-site location. At your preference, we can backup your system and data files. You don't have to backup everything; and we can show you the "important things".

If you can't boot your computer, you can't get to your data. But in most cases, the data is still there; you just can't access it. In the worst case, the hard drive has completely failed. You need a professional, forensic, (very expensive) and lengthy data recovery service. Fortunately, most of the time only a part of the boot process has failed. We can re-establish the boot process in a majority of cases, then we find your data and move it to a safe location. If the Operating System is severely damaged, we load a simple, vanilla Operating System on your computer and access your data from this system. Then we partially (or completely, with your help) re-build and re-install your applications and personal preferences. Unless you disagree, we leave this simple system on your computer for next time. You will be able to reboot your computer if your main operating system is damaged. You may be able to recover your own data next time. On the other hand, sometimes the data is totally lost. However, to prevent this next time, we strongly encourage a CD/DVD disk backup of your data.

NOTE: Some high profile Computer Tech Services take the "easy" approach to the "unable to boot" problem. They simply re-install the Operating System. That's good for Tech Services but not always good for the user. Although their service appears quick, the user gets a "virgin" working computer back that requires countless hours re-installing personal applications and preferences. And in some cases their personal data is also missing. Navdon Technology makes every effort to save your Operating System, save your data and restore your computer to a "before things went bad" state.
